That was a question my head teacher asked me 18 months ago. Well actually it was along the lines of; ‘Jodie, why do you want to go and work out there when there are so many disadvantaged and neglected children right here?’ The answer to that became plainly obvious; my role as head of music was filled instantly with many, many applicants applying for it. There are not the teachers in the developing world and I feel it is our duty, if we can, to do something about it.

I have no dependants, I am financially sound (ok ignore my student loans) and I am in good health so I guess the question should be: why shouldn’t I go and volunteer???
